True Grit (Joel and Ethan Coen, USA 2010)

The opening film of the Berlinale is now with us landed in theaters. And once again we can watch the Coens in how they add to their body of work more Americana. And although the film is similar with regard to the plot of a classic revenge story - the murder of the father will be avenged - but there are a few important details that make up the conventional so special. And from the film a farewell to the legendary Western heroes. TRUE GRIT is a late Western.

is the feature of the film grounded in two things: the protagonist is a young girl (1), which is a bit naive and a little stubborn at the same time, very eloquently with the weapon of language (2) against the obdurate muttering to enforce always drunken and sacked Roughnecks know. Topic Language: Jeff Bridges is also in the German synchro, I had to see to understand sometimes difficult. The babbling man mumbles and grumbles to himself and in his beard (here all wear beards!) That one often sees only the beginning of a sentence. Matt Damon is one of the bandits hergeschleift behind the horse, where he breaks the jaw and the tongue will be torn down halfway. It can then only used still moan, then he can only articulate with difficulty lisping, hissing and sighing. This too is always extremely goofy-funny, especially since it anyway such a caricature of a man's revolver. In contrast, of course, the protagonist Mattie Russ (Hailee Steinfeld - great), which takes possession of a clear language, accurate reasoning and assertiveness in the world. In short, the little girl says to the rough legs, where it's at.

The film is of course dressed in amazing pictures and a fantastic restrained score blessed (Carter Burwell). That the film this way, and despite his occasional hardness result is of course very consumable, one has to mention hardly. Although the hochglänzt not always, but everything is always "read". To Sir, is it not by such imagery, they invite you to Revel, for a Kontenplation. A spectacular, exciting and sometimes very funny, sometimes sarcastic little film has become the mainstream. You can watch definitely.
